One of the most popular and respected classical guitarists in Asia and one who deserves more international recognition, is no doubt, Danny Yeh is a top guitarist among the Asian world.
Born in Taipei,Taiwan, he began his studies of guitar at age 14, gave his first public performanace after only 3 months, and at 16 was the youngest performer to ever give a solo recital in Taiwan. From 1989 to 1993 he was the prizewinner in numerous competitions, including the prestigious Tokyo International Guitar Contest of Japan, becoming the first Taiwanese guitarist to do so. Since winning the Tokyo International Guitar Contest, Mr. Yeh has been much in demand as a soloist internationally and has quickly established himself as one of Asia's finest guitarists.
Since his successful performance in Japan in 1990, he sustains an active performance schedule both in Taiwan and overseas, having been invited to give recitals across the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia and Mainland China, and gets a very good evaluation wherever he went. Besides recitals, Mr.Yeh often performs with other musicians in a wide variety of genres, the artists including the soprano Dilber, the pipa player Wu Man, the flamenco dancer Masami Okada, the guitarist Eduardo Fernandez, Shin-ichi Fukuda, Margarita Escarpa, Kaori Muraji, William Kanengiser and many others. In the past years, he is also active in all kind of chamber music and concerto appearance with various orchestra.
While maintaining a busy performing schedule, Mr. Yeh continues to devote time to the music scene both in China and Taiwan. he has founded the Taipei International Guitar Festival and the Taiwan Contemporary Guitar Federation. His many musical transcriptions for guitar have been published internationally. Mr. Yeh is currently teaching at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China.
