Hans Michael Koch, born in Stuttgart, studied guitar with Professor Karl Scheit at the University of Music and Performance Arts in
Vienna. After the artistic diploma examination he continued his studies with
Regino Saiz de la Maza in Madrid. In 1973, as a prize and scholarship recipient he was selected for the national young artist concert activities in Germany.
Debutconcerts in Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall as we as in the Wigmore Hall London. According to more expanding studies on lute and baroque guitar with Hopkinson Smith in Basel, H. M. Koch also dedicated himself to the variety of early lute and gutiar music on period instruments. In 2005 he was invited to give master classes and concerts in Beijing and Tianjin (People’s Republic of China). Since then he had been invited as a regular tuest to concerts and courses in China. In Spring 2007, H. K. Koch has been appointed asHonorary Prefessor at the College of Music in Tianjin.
International concert activities in numerous countries in Europe, Africa and Asia organized by the German Goethe Institute as well as radio broadcastings and cd-recordings. Performances at festivals such as Early Music Week Innsbruck, Early Music Festival Herne or Festival van Vlaandern in Brügge.
H.-K. Koch has been active as ajury member in national and international competitions and publishes 19th century guitar music. In additon he is an in demand for numerous seminars and masterclasses.
